Another summer at Somerset House

Some amazing events grace the courtyard at Somerset House every year, and for over a decade we have been lucky enough to return every summer to help out with two of their defining summer events; The Summer Series and Film4 Summer Screen.

Summer Series at Somerset House with American Express

Early July we headed to Somerset House for the 11th consecutive year to help set everything up for the Summer Series concerts, supporting promoters Metropolis Music. We provided all the stage rigging as well as two truss wings for the PA systems and branding, which flanked either side of the stage.

Take a look at American Express’ time-lapse video (try counting the Blackout vans).

With performances from artists such as Passenger, George Ezra, Jessie J and Kwabs, Somerset House Summer Series, which ran from 9th – 19th July, sold out night after night and attracted large crowds.

Film4 Summer Screen at Somerset House

We returned to Somerset House a couple of weeks later for Film4 Summer Screen, 6th - 9th August. The ever-popular Film4 Summer Screen open air cinema includes the installation of a giant projection screen. This year the screen measured 17.5m x 7.5m with a 20m x 23m ground support system. The structure started several meters below the ground level of the courtyard, with legs in narrow channels braced off to the building to protect Somerset House’s historic façade. In the courtyard, we also provided four PA towers. The arched entrances welcoming guests were decorated with red velour drapes from Blackout. The velour theme continued in the VIP area, which was adorned by beige drapes.

Somerset House Film4 2015

Film4 Summer Screen consists of 14 nights of classic, cult and contemporary films plus new premieres, including, West Side Story, The Graduate and the People’s Premiere of The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
