We returned to the Brit Awards for the 19th year, and installed a range of draping into the O2 Arena for the 2015 event. Among the performers were Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith who both picked up multiple awards on the night, Feb 25th, 2015.
A live audience comprised of the top talent from the UK music industry, a global TV audience of 5.8m, plus online viewers all enjoyed spectacular performances by British artists George Ezra, Paloma Faith and Royal Blood, along with international superstars Madonna, Taylor Swift and Kanye West.
For the main stage backdrop, we installed a 60m wide x 20m high black wool serge drape which accentuated the set, whilst totally separating the backstage area. Our team installed the stage and auditorium dressing, as well as tab track entrances for performers and set.
In the adjacent Brit Awards 2015 after-party, hosted in a giant temporary venue on O2’s concourse, we created the backdrop for the stage and dressed the space with sumptuous red velour drapes, as well as installing one of our company’s roller screens.
Blackout director, Chris Brain, explains: “For the 19th year we worked with the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and the show’s set designers and broadcasters to create an arena environment that worked for both the live and TV audience. The after-show party area was elaborately dressed to create a wow-factor for the VIP party-goers.”
