Providing a colourful 'ceiling' for London Food Month Night Market in Kensington

Working with LarMac Live, a five-strong Blackout crew provided a splash of colour by suspending dozens of umbrellas over the London Food Month night market at Perks Field in Kensington.

We installed a run of Thomas Superlite through the centre of the main tent, using CM Prostars and Kader clamps, to provide the infrastructure for illuminating the umbrellas.

Once that was in place, we fixed a series of 4mm steel catinery wires, again using our standard Kadar clamp. From those wires each umbrella was attached with a 2mm steel wire with adjustable terminations. These wires had been preattached at the required lengths in our London warehouse.

Working under the supervision of Kevin Monks the Blackout crew of Josh Coller, Irek Tarkowski, Gianlucca Proh and our Trailblazer apprentice Bridie Lane worked on the umbrella installation before - ironically - getting soaked on the way home as the heavens opened.

The market, the centrepiece of London Food Month, will run for 12 nights and feature some of the biggest names from the London restaurant and street food scene including Angela Hartnett, Adina, Fortnum & Mason, Zoe's Ghana Kitchen, Vinn Goute and many more.
