In May 2022 Blackout were asked to undertake the production Rigging for the Platinum Jubilee Concert in front of Buckingham Palace. It involved the rigging of fabric-clad frames over the stage with recessed lighting trusses in between them. Blackout also manufactured white light block fabric panels which attached directly to the stage roof structure to form the neat geometric shape that the designers envisaged. Working with Stufish Blackout also clad 75 truss towers with lights on top to signify 75 ‘candles’ around the stage and arena. In addition to this hoist and rigging were supplied to hang the extensive PA system.
Backstage Blackout supplied over 500m of pipe and drape to create the environment for dressing rooms, hair and make-up and artist-holding areas.
In the front-of-house areas Blackout Installed various drapes, tracks and lighting bars in the hospitality and TV studio boxes situated at the backs of the main grandstands. Blackout were also tasked with dressing the royal box, utilising their plush stock of rental purple velour they created a backdrop with the rigging of the Royal Crest as the centrepiece.
